Police and coastguard called out to Greig Street Bridge in Inverness

Police officers and members of the coastguard were called out to Greig Street Bridge in Inverness this afternoon.

The operation was being led by Police Scotland and the alarm was raised at around 3.50pm.

A coastguard spokesman said: "We sent Inverness Coastguard Rescue Team to assist the police at Greig Street Bridge, Inverness.

"The Coastguard Rescue Team has since been stood down."

It is understood that they were sent to the scene because a person was on the other side of the barrier.
