FALCON Square in Inverness will be transformed into a multi-area play zone this Saturday.

Play Highland – the region's play improvement group – is inviting people to get involved in the free event which runs from 11am-3pm.

A spokeswoman for the organisers said: "It’s all about imaginative play.

"By using basic items that are found in everyday life and not traditionally associated with playgrounds, the event will bring creative, social and cognitive play opportunities for kids of all ages."

Earthtime will have a selection of activities on the day aimed at improving youngsters' self-esteem, health and wellbeing by connecting children with the natural environment.

There will be a number of different play areas including circus skills, storytelling, face-painting, fun with puppets, bubble making and a "small world" area with dinosaurs and fairies.

Deborah Hochney, of Earthtime, said “With engaging activities and fun performances, we'll be creating a rich environment where your children can explore all the different ways to play.

"Pick up some inspiration on how you can continue the imaginative sensory play at home.”

This event follows the success of a similar pop-up play event in Inverness city centre in 2017. For one day only, the top end of Church Street was transformed into a multi-area play zone for kids to play within a beach, park, woodland and street scene.

Parents and carers got stuck in with all the activities and the positive feedback stimulated planning for this follow-up event.
