Plans for the development of a new Home Bargains store in the Stratton area of Inverness have been submitted to The Highland Council.

The £5million development outlines the construction of a Home Bargains store, ancillary café, and garden centre located off Barn Church Road, Inverness.

Projections indicate the potential creation of 40 new local jobs, with an additional 55 jobs expected during construction and within the supply chain.

The application submitted by T.J. Morris, owners of Home Bargains, follows an extensive consultation programme including consultation events on June 21 and August 30 2023, at The Barn Church. The events provided an opportunity for the local community to view plans, discuss them with the project team, and provide valuable feedback.

The feedback received during the consultation process has shaped and inform the final application, leading to the inclusion of a publicly accessible allotment space. Upon completion of the development ownership of this expanded area will be transferred to a community group or third party.

A spokesperson from T.J. Morris said: “We are delighted to have submitted our proposals for a new store Home Bargains store at Barn Church Road, marking the latest step in our project timeline for the site.

“I would like to thank all those who provided their feedback during the consultation process last year. The comments received have played an invaluable role in shaping the final proposals submitted to The Highland Council.

“The development promises to bring substantial investment of £5 million to the area, alongside the creation of over 40 new jobs.

“We are looking forward to continuing our engagement with the local community during this next phase of the planning process.”
