Home Bargains is hosting a second consultation event for its proposed new £7 million commercial centre in Inverness.

The proposed retail park will feature a 35,000 square foot Home Bargains store, along with four additional commercial units in Barn Church Road.

The project will create more than 100 full-time jobs, as well as a further 80 jobs during construction and in the supply chain.

Applicant TJ Morris, owner of Home Bargains, says the proposed retail park supports Highland Council's local plan aspiration for a mixed use development in Stratton.

It is encouraging the public to attend a drop-in event at The Barn Church from 3pm-7pm on August 30 and the developer is welcoming feedback until September 13.

The upcoming event follows on from a previous feedback session on June 21, when some 50 residents and interested stakeholders attended to learn about the proposal and speak to the project team, who will be on hand again with updated project material.

If approved, construction will start mid-2024 with an estimated completion date of late-2025.

A spokesperson from TJ Morris said: “We would like to thank everyone who attended our first drop-in event and provided feedback on the proposals. The valuable comments received have been used to shape and inform our plans and we look forward to presenting updated project material to the community.

“We would encourage all those with an interest in the Stratton proposals to come along to our upcoming event, gain insights into our plans, and most importantly, share your feedback.”

A proposal of application notice was submitted to the council on June 2, triggering a 12-week consultation period.

Inverness has an existing Home Bargains store in Rose Street.
