Writers at all levels are being invited to pitch their ideas to be included in the 2022 Ness Book Fest.

After the successful return of the grassroots festival this year, the committee is looking forward and is starting to organise next year’s offering which will be from October 6-8.

Next year also marks Scotland's Year of Stories which celebrates the wealth of stories inspired by, created or written in Scotland

Cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, a pared-back Ness Book Fest returned in October with guest appearances from comedian and podcaster Robin Ince, Inverness-based Irish poet Aoife Lyall and crime writer and Bloody Scotland co-founder Lin Anderson.

Festival chairwoman Emma Hamilton said: "Our returning festival was a great success with audience members commenting on the range and quality of our events.

"As we head in to the Year of Stories, we’re now looking forward to making next year’s festival even better."

Established and emerging writers from all backgrounds are invited to pitch their idea for an event for the 2022 festival.

The festival usually has a wide range of events including talks, panel sessions, children’s activities, Gaelic events and literary walks.

The pitching window will open on Monday and will continue until midnight on Monday, January 31.

It can be found on nessbookfest.com.
