Youngsters have been given the chance to discover their inner rock star at an Inverness children's club.

Would-be guitarists and drummers joined in taster sessions at the Eastgate Shopping Centre which is running a summer-long programme of free activities as part of its Nevis Club.

RoKzKool Academy, a grassroots Highland charity set up by Rod Shannon and Kay Ewen, took up the centre's invitation to stage a workshop.

At least 200 youngsters took up the chance to try various musical instruments or find their singing voices, according to Kay.

"It was a lovely atmosphere and great to see the families interacting with the instruments and having a great time," she said.

"There was really good feedback from the public as well."

She said it was important for children to have access to an instrument.

"If they don't get access, they they will never know if they will pick up an instrument," she said.

The shopping centre is running the Nevis Club every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am-3pm.

This week's programme also included a FitKIDZ Get Creative session featuring arts and crafts including making temporary tattoos.

The sessions continue until August 12.
