Photographs from inside the dilapidated Charleston Academy have emerged ahead of a crunch Parent Council meeting tonight.

The images show just how run down the interior of the school has become as it lurches from closure to closure.

One councillor has already called on the Scottish Government to step-in and offer assistance to a school facing a barrage of maintenance problems.

Last week, lessons were been suspended at Charleston Academy's home economics department after mice were discovered in the second pest-related incident within two months.

In June, Highland Council was forced to seek specialist environmental health advice to deal with an infestation of red mites at the 777-pupil secondary school.

While late last month the council says it was told it did not have to close any part of the school due to the discovery of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC).

The concrete is believed to to lead to sudden unexpected collapses.

Staff and pupils have to encounter scenes like this one (below) with ceiling tiles missing and wires exposed from rain damage.
