An Inverness football team has raised more than £2000 for Highland Hospice.

Highland Hospice FC, which is prevented from training due to the Covid-19 lockdown, took part in a 24-hour running relay challenge instead.

The team was formed two years ago and was originally known as NHS FC.

Their challenge began at 7pm last Friday and they finished at 7pm the following day – with team members taking it in turns to run for an hour at a time.

Hospice staff did a similar relay event last September.

Karen Duff, a corporate fundraiser at the hospice, said: “The effort from Highland Hospice FC has been tremendous. Thanks to all of them and everyone who sponsored their run.

“We loved seeing the updates on social media after each runner had completed their challenge.”
