FAMILY friendly fun and glorious weather put smiles on the faces of all ages when Cauldeen Primary School held its summer fair at the weekend.

The Saturday afternoon event basked in sunshine throughout and there were a host of activities to entertain children and parents.

Ferret racing and Pets as Therapy were a big hit with the little ones, while the day also featured everything from sand art to circus skills, and a range of fun competitions such as Beat the Goalie and a human fruit machine game.

A school spokeswoman said: “The weather was brilliant and it was busy the whole day.”

The teachers also got to cool off in the summer heat thanks to their Soak the Teacher game, with members of staff getting a right drenching thanks to those taking part.

Organised by the school's parent teacher association, the day is believed to have attracted around 200 families – or roughly 600 people/

A spokeswoman for the group said: "It was amazing to witness. The feedback we received was brilliant – people loved how we organised this summer fair not just for the school but the community.

"The atmosphere of the community all together was immense. [There was a] great community spirit all day – something we have not seen in a long time since pre-Covid. Great to have the PTA and teachers work together and bring the fair to life.

"Families loved how we had an array of different things going on throughout the day - something for everyone.

They added that they overheard several children calling it "the best day ever" repeatedly.

The organisers would like to thank Barclays Guarding and Cleaning Services "who provided an exceptional service... to traffic manage and keep everyone safe and we are so grateful and can't thank them enough for their kindness supporting us".

The day raised £1018 with all funds going to support the pupils through a range of activities and fun events.

"[We're] thankful to everyone that attended, traders, businesses, teachers and families," added the spokeswoman. "Without them this would not have been possible."

They also said that the members of Pets as Therapy were very complimentary of the school's children, saying "how wonderful, polite and caring they were to them and the dogs – they felt very welcome and everyone was so generous donating to their cause".
