An Inverness videographer and drone pilot is in the frame for having one of the most popular photos of the city.

A picture of the Ness Islands by Cameron Carroll, who runs RedBeard Productions, has had 10,000 views and attracted hundreds of compliments.

It is among a portfolio of spectacular aerial shots taken by the skilful Civil Aviation Authority-approved drone pilot.

“My drone shots have been really well received on social media, with my images being shared widely with groups like Visit Inverness Loch Ness, Loch Ness 360, What’s Happening Inverness, Inverness BID and more,” Mr Cameron said.

“One image in particular of the Ness Islands had 10,000 views and received feedback from over 700 people.”

Mr Carroll qualified with a BSc in digital media from Robert Gordon University, in Aberdeen, which included some video, editing and graphics.

He said: “I loved making videos of holidays and it was the part I enjoyed most about digital media, so after university I worked for a major PR company in Inverness before setting up my own business and since then I’ve created videos for a wide range of clients.”

The 25-year-old set up RedBeard Productions in August 2018 and has been flying commercially for more than two years.

“RedBeard Productions makes promotional and marketing videos for a wide variety of businesses,” he said. “Training videos, event captures and aerial photography are also offered.”

Mr Carroll has recently been working with a couple of adventure tourism companies and is keen to do more in the tourism sector.

He added: “The Covid pandemic has hit everybody hard, but I’m an optimistic person and I’m already seeing positive signs for the future, and I look forward to working with more businesses this year than last.

“I absolutely love to do what I do and I’m really grateful to be living in such a beautiful part of the world and working with my fellow Highlanders and showcasing their amazing businesses.”
