A HISTORIC hair salon next to the River Ness has reopened under new management yesterday (Thursday, December 1).
Katherine's unisex salon has taken over the premises of former Carol Ann's hairdressing after the owner retired last week after 39 years of activity.
The new hair stylist running the salon, Katherine Woolley (27), has more than ten years of experience working in the industry.
She said she is thrilled to be re-opening, with the salon being already fully booked over the first three days of opening.
She said: "It has been such a great day.
"We have been spending so many hours here in the past week to make sure everything was into place, it's amazing to be finally reopening.
"I have got all sort of emotions right now. It's something that I never thought I would get to do, I always thought I'd always be in the background, be the one that is working for someone, but this opportunity fell into my lap pretty much."
The new look of the salon focusses on black and gold tones, with a refurbished interior.
Ms Woolley, who graduated from college at 17, and working in a variety of businesses over the past ten years.
The family-run business will see Ms Woolley working alongside her mother Lisa Farren, who had been working at Carol Ann's for more than a decade, as well as Sara Chisholm, another experienced hair stylist.
Ms Farren said: "It's been fantastic so far, the salon is already so busy.
"I am very proud of Katie, it's been a lot of hard work but it's really paying off now!"
Katherine's hair salon is now open Tuesday to Saturday, with late appointments available on Thursdays.
