The organiser of a Highland tractor run said that he found himself ‘amazed’ at the different colours and display of the event which illuminated seven Highland communities in the run-up to New Year.
Between the hours of 5pm and 9pm on December 30, the Tractor Run visited the Dingwall Mart, Maryburgh, Conon Bridge, Muir of Ord, Beauly, The Black Isle Showground, Tore, and finally arriving in the Inverness Caledonian Thistle stadium car park.
The Tractor Run was carried out by three local clubs, the Inverness Riverside Rotary Club, Dingwall Rotary Club and InverRoss Young Farmers to raise money for RSABI: Supporting People in Scottish Agriculture; Farmstrong Scotland and Young Lives vs Cancer.
Alan Smurthwaite, of Inverness Riverside Rotary Club, said: “The turnout of tractors was excellent, we had more than 60 tractors. There was enormous support, particularly in Beauly – I think everybody and his wife turned out in Beauly! We also had a good number of people at the Dingwall Mart, the Black Isle Showground and the Inverness Caley Thistle football ground.
“The highlight was the sheer colour and display, and the amount of effort that had gone into putting it together – one couple spent nine hours decorating their tractor! There were some fantastic views of the tractors especially when we were coming over the Kessock Bridge.
“We don’t know how much we’ve raised yet, but as soon as it's known we will publicise it. There was super co-operation of the clubs for charity!”
