A rainbow of hope appeared over the Beach of Dreams in Nairn for the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice

People in Nairn marched together at one of hundreds of smaller protests organised worldwide.

More than 50 people gathered in Nairn, carrying banners and flags from the Beach of Dreams project to Central Beach to demand that world leaders "walk the walk" as well as "talk the talk".

At the beach, organisers invited people to write hopes and dreams for the future in the sand.

The gathering was rewarded by a stunning double rainbow over the Moray Firth.

Nairn’s Penguin Tuxedo Samba Band provided music throughout the event.

Organiser Mandy Murray said: "We live in a beautiful part of the world, but climate change affects us all, wherever we live.

"We need to see bold positive action from leaders, to match the agreements coming out of COP26.

"It was great to see so many local people come out today despite the wet and windy weather, it shows that so many people do care strongly about protecting the future of life on planet earth."
