Pupils and teachers from the oldest primary school in Inverness marched through the city centre as part of a celebration to mark its 200th anniversary.
Central Primary School first opened its doors in 1821.
To mark the achievement, pupils and staff gathered by the River Ness in Queen Street – the school’s original location – and walked up Greig Street and along Kenneth Street to its present-day location.
Streets along the route were temporarily closed to traffic for the procession as it made its way past delighted onlookers.
After arriving at the school, three pupils helped to plant a commemorative tree.
Representatives of Eden Court, High Life Highland Archive Centre and Highland Council gave short speeches, while former pupils shared memories of their time at the school.
Headteacher Ailsa Fraser said: "We had a lovely afternoon, and we are thankful to everyone who attended."
