A sunny and breezy day saw hundreds of dogs gather in Auldearn for the first-ever show and fair organised by a local animal rescue charity.

Tia Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue hosted a wonderful day for dogs and their owners on Sunday in their Easter Hardmuir Farm home.

The event featured various competitions as well as charity and craft stalls, sausage bobbing and other refreshments for everyone attending.

The charity raised £2250 on the day and will make this an annual event.

Charity founder Debra Rothery said: "It was a fabulous day, with over 250 entries in the dog show. It was a bit of a worry with the wind but everyone just got on with it. It was an amazing turnout for our first show in the Highlands.

"Thanks to all the stall holders, the people who came and especially to the lovely, lovely dogs of all shapes and sizes."

The day saw the rescue welcoming a new addition to the family, a seven-year-old black greyhound girl which came from Yorkshire with one of the charity's volunteers.

She had been abandoned before being taken to a kennel for strays.

The latest addition to the Tia family: this 7 year-old greyhound girl arrived from Yorkshire with one of the volunteers and was saved from the stray kennel after being abandoned.

Ms Rothery said: "That's the reason why we are here. She is safe now."
