A HIGHLAND-BASED early learning and childcare organisation has launched a new service at a school in Inverness.
Care and Learning Alliance (CALA) announced the opening of their new School Aged Childcare service at Croy Primary School.
Working closely with the school's headteacher, Highland Council staff and councillors and parents, the service has taken almost a year to develop after the need for after-school care was highlighted by local parents in the Croy area.
Jaci Douglas, Chief Executive of CALA said: "This is a much needed service that we are so pleased to be opening today - after many months of planning and delays due to registration of the service and staff recruitment. We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Headteacher, local councillors and local community and parents to provide a high quality experience for the children. We know that finding good quality flexible and affordable care is a huge issue for parents and are delighted we can meet the needs of the area in this partnership way. "
She added "We also hope to be able to expand the service and offer spaces to children in Ardersier and even beyond, if space allows, as parents in Ardersier have also asked for after school care and with funding from the local Council ward budget we will be able to offer a limited number of spaces on the subsidised taxi service to Croy school this year."
The after school care will be open Monday to Friday from 2.30pm until 6pm for children aged three to 12.
