Muir of Ord’s new £2 million food convenience store today opened to customers for the first time.

The convenience retailer’s purpose-built 3,000 sq. ft. premises was created in the grounds of its dilapidated former outlet in Great North Road and supports 15 local jobs.

Children from Tarradale Primary School were among the guests of honours, cutting the ribbon and helping to declare the new store ready to serve the community.

The new store is more than 750 sq. ft. larger than its predecessor and, opening between 7am and 10pm daily, includes customer car parking, a free ATM, a fairtrade coffee dispenser and bakery.

The company says the store will offer enhanced choice with a focus on fresh, healthy products.

A new bakery range with a serve over-counter offerings of hot and cold food by Inverness bakers Harry Gow, while Amazon Lockers will soon be added for parcel collection.

The store also features self-service tills and offers customers a full range of loyalty benefits.

Martin Brant, Co-op's store manager, said: “We have had a great response in welcoming the community into their new, purpose-built Co-op.

“As well as being there to serve the community conveniently, we have an increased and enhanced range and choice to provide meal ideas for the evening and week ahead.

“The store has a great look and feel, and our aim is to operate at the heart of local life - we have worked to develop the range, choice, products and added services to create a really compelling offer to serve the community.”
