Road markings have been painted the wrong way round in Inverness.

The junction of Beaufort Road with Cawdor Road should have double broken lines, signifying drivers to give way, on the left hand side of the junction, but instead over the weekend they have been painted on the other side.

Eagle-eyed driver driver Brian MacLeod (36), from Crown, noticed the mistake.

He said: "I despair. It is pretty basic that the lines should have been painted in the correct place. I hope they managed to fix them soon as it will cause a bit of confusion."

A Highland Council spokeswoman said: “We are investigating how this has happened and will ensure that it is rectified as soon as possible.”
