PICTURES: Lucky numbers come up for Dalneigh Play Park Project at fundraising bingo night at V8 Cafe in Inverness

Organisers of a fundraising bingo night for a new community play park were delighted with the final numbers – £2096.75.

The event, to raise money for the Dalneigh Play Park Project, was held at the V8 Cafe in Henderson Road.

The project aims to raise £73,000 to buy much-needed new equipment for the park near the canal.

The latest amount brings the total so far to £22,600.

The project was launched by chairman Liz MacIntyre after she was contacted by concerned Dalneigh resident Marie Maciver of Limetree Avenue about the dire strait of the existing equipment.

Fundraising bid to perk up play park

“We need a new park in the area,” Ms MacIntyre said. “We want somewhere which is inclusive, exciting and stimulating.”

She said the existing play equipment was not inclusive or inspiring for parents to take their children.

The project has also submitted an application to Highland Council for community regeneration funding.

Ms MacIntyre thanked the V8 Cafe for hosting the fundraising bingo night. She hoped more people would come forward with fundraising ideas of their own.
