It might have been the last day but there was still plenty to smile about at Eden Court in Inverness over the weekend.
Sunday evening saw the final outing for the venue’s smash hit crowd pleasing pantomime for 2023-24, Sleeping Beauty– with young and old flocking to catch it before the curtain came down.
Courier publisher Highland News and Media’s senior news editor Hector MacKenzie was one of those lucky enough to catch the show before Christmas, early on in its run.
In his review of the performance then he told readers: I can almost guarantee that whoever you are, you won’t drop off during Sleeping Beauty, you’ll snigger at a cheesy gag you’ve not encountered before and hear at least one song that you absolutely love.
“For a couple of hours, you will be right royally entertained.”
Speaking before the final performance of the festive season just gone Eden Court chief executive Rebecca Holt said words like that and others had left her over the moon with how well the show had been received.
“We are delighted with how this year’s run of Sleeping Beauty has gone,” she said.
“It’s had great reviews and a very warm audience reaction, with lots of people saying it’s their favourite panto in years.
“The cast, company and Eden Court team all work incredibly hard over these five weeks and 53 performances to make our annual panto a reality – so we are always pleased when audiences respond so positively and come out in good numbers to see it.”
