A historic abandoned Victorian house in Muir of Ord has been destroyed by fire.

The blaze, reported just before 11pm last night (Tuesday), engulfed the former Corriemount dwelling on Corrie Road in flames

The 19th century detached stone-built home was known locally as the ‘haunted house’ and was once said to be the village’s grandest address.

Having lain empty for a considerable time, it has had a history of being targeted by vandals and suffered significant damage in a previous fire in August 2017.

Four fire crews, two from Dingwall, one from Inverness and one from Beauly rushed to attend the latest blaze.

It was brought under control around three hours later.
