Country dancers enjoyed a celebration at the weekend at the Inverness Highland Ball after two years off due to Covid.

Since 1994, the ball has gone ahead yearly as a formal way to celebrate Scottish Country Dance.

This year, it was hosted at the Drumossie Hotel where dancers from across Scotland enjoyed a drinks reception, dinner and dancing with music from Marian Anderson and her Band.

Muriel McDonald, Pat MacLeod, Fiona Leighton and Marie Macdonald took over the running of the ball after the retirement of Rob Sargent, founder.

The dancing was preceded by a Grand March followed by dances such as the distillery reel and city lights.

Organiser Muriel McDonald said: “What a good night it was and wonderful for us to see everyone enjoying themselves after such a long wait.

“How excited we were to be finally running the Ball in 2022.”
