PICTURES: Care home residents Eilean Dubh in Fortrose on the Black Isle hold 'Heilean Dubh' summer festival of music and culture

Residents at a Black Isle care home have thrown their own festival with an afternoon of Highland dancing and live music.

Eilean Dubh Care Home in Fortrose held its own “Heilean Dubh” summer festival in celebration of Highland music and culture.

Dancers from Cheryl Heggie Highland Dance school in Inverness got residents in the mood for a fun-filled day that also included a few antics – welly throwing, tossing the caber and hook a duck. There was also live music from Dingwall-based singer and guitarist John Newlands.

Residents and staff also took part in a TikTok song and dance video.

The residents were joined by loved ones for a barbecue in the garden in what was the largest gathering at Eilean Dubh since the pandemic.

Acting manager Jackie Macrae said: “We had a fantastic day. It was lovely to welcome so many relatives and residents had a ball.”
