PICTURES: Harry Potter night at Fortrose Library is simply magic!

IMAGINATIONS ran riot at an eagerly anticipated gathering inspired by an all-time favourite best-selling children's book series.

Fortrose Community Library's Harry Potter Book Day attracted 30 children, many of them arriving in costume and all set for the Magical Spaces theme chosen this year.

Fortrose School and Community Library network librarian Sya Bruce explained: "We chose to re-create The Burrow, the home of the Weasley family.

Children relished the opportunity to dress up – as did many of their parents.

"It was great to see all of the children – and many of their parents and library staff! – in full costume. Special mention must go to Ailea, who won best costume in her Dobby the House Elf garb.

"Children made pixie jars and flying keys before listening to a reading from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets read by myself.

"We created this event in partnership with Inverness Museum and Art Gallery and were delighted to be joined by their engagement curator, Alison Parfitt, who brought with her some truly magical creatures and was the able judge of our costume competition."
