PUPILS of a Nairn school celebrated the end of exams with a packed week of activities last week.

To mark the occasion and before the start of new timetables this week, Nairn Academy organised a graduation week, starting off with a day of activities (from golf to crafts), a day dedicated to sports and finishing off on Friday with a memorial walk around the town in memory of former councillor and maths teacher Tom Heggie.

S1 to S3 pupils took part to the walk and were handed their graduation certificates at the end of it.

P7 students who will become S1 students next year were also invited to take part.

Head Teacher Julie MacDonald said: "Staff have worked really hard to give pupils some fun activities which have not been possible given the challenging few years of Covid.

"It was really important for us to focus on the "Team Nairn" concept, with pupils engaging in different activities around the town and creating a connection with the community.

"On Wednesday we had a full range of activities that pupils could try – from a full day out golfing to aikido, and other shorter activities – which we were able to offer for free thanks to the collaboration of the community in Nairn. We are really thankful for this and to all the businesses who supported the week."

She added that for staff to take part to the activities alongside students in a more informal environment was a great opportunity to connect with the students.
