A quiz night held in aid of Highland Hospice and the Inverness Ice Centre was a great success last week.

Martin Maclure, a 34-year-old civil servant who is originally from Skye but now lives in Inverness, is taking part in this year’s Strictly Inverness competition together with dance partner Emma Hay, from Elgin, in aid of both charities.

While a race night planned for last Saturday evening unfortunately could not go ahead, a quiz night held on Friday at Dows Bar and Bistro in Inverness went down well with participants.

“The quiz night was fantastic, everyone enjoyed themselves and we had a great evening,” Mr Maclure said.

“We raised over £300 after expenses between ticket sales and a raffle.”

He praised Dows as a “cracking venue” and added: “We had 36 people on the night but there were a couple who were unable to attend for various reasons.”

The fun evening kicked off with some prosecco and a classic warm-up game of heads or tails.

The quiz was hosted by Grace Nicoll, of MFR’s Dan and Grace In The Morning, with Mr Maclure praising her for devising a great quiz covering a variety of topics.
