Furry visitors brought smiles to users of the Glenurquhart Centre in Drumnadrochit recently.

A group of alpacas paid a visit from their home at Invercannich Farm for the day, with elderly and vulnerable people supported by the centre delighted to give them a pet.

Senior support worker Yvonne Mcintosh organised the event to give people a chance to learn a bit more about the animals.

Residents from the Telford Centre care home in Fort Augustus and children from the local nursery also came along, with a charge for entry going towards funding activities at the Glenurquhart Centre including crafts, live music and outings.

Ms Mcintosh said: “At the Glenurquhart Centre we host a variety of activities on a daily basis for service users. We wanted something different and therapeutic to offer and one of the team suggested apacas. I contacted Invercannich Farm and they were delighted to come out to us.

“Everyone had a fantastic time. The service users loved the alpacas. Those visiting from the Telford Centre enjoyed their afternoon with us. The afternoon was a success for everyone that came along.”
