Firefighters at Inverness Airport were called out after a Loganair aircraft suffered a fuel leak.

The incident was at approximately 3pm yesterday and the crews managed to clean up the fuel.

A Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd spokesman said: “The leak was contained by our Airport Fire Service and cleaned up to allow the airport to safely operate.

“At the time of the spill and during clear up there were no aircraft movements, these returned to normal operations just before 5pm.”

A Loganair spokeswoman said: “During routine refuelling in Inverness on Thursday, there was a fuel spill caused by a stuck overflow valve.

"Flight safety remains our top priority and as such, further technical inspections were undertaken and the aircraft was removed from service.

"The spill was cleared, with the fire service in attendance as a precaution and no passengers were impacted as a result.”
