UHI Inverness's Scottish School of Forestry hosted its first-ever freshers fair today.

The event was organised by HISA – the Highlands and Islands Students' Association – and the school itself.

It provided students with a "chance to make connections and discover potential future careers", said Sophie MacGregor, HISA's student voice assistant (Inverness).

She praised the event as being a "great success".

It was also an opportunity for students to meet members of staff and other students.

A number of local employers were present such as Forestry and Land Scotland, as well as Tilhill Forestry.

HISA's Inverness president William Campbell said in the past it's been "hard to get out to the students" but that HISA is "committed to spending time" to achieve this. He also said that there will be more events in the future but that this is up to students.

A re-freshers week is planned for the future for those students joining in the second semester. Like the first, local employers will be there and it will be an "opportunity to network".

The Scottish School of Forestry is based in Balloch and part of the UHI, which teaches 1700 students.

It follows two days of freshers fair events at UHI Inverness's campus last week.
