A series of events set up by a Dingwall duo took a football twist last weekend with a very special venue at Ross County's home at Victoria Park.

Following successful events in Ross-shire and Inverness, partners Jim Murray (manager at Dingwall-based D Gunn Funeral Directors) and Fiona Campbell were delighted of hosting Saturday's event at the stadium before Ross County's game against Livingstone.

With around 60 children in attendance, the day – which offered children and their families an afternoon of fun activities and a meetup with superheroes, princesses and footballers – was a great success according to the organisers.

Ms Campbell said"The community spirit was amazing, we had seven players come up and play and engage with the children, they were brilliant.

"Then they all got in to watch the match afterwards – which made the day even better with a home win!

"We are really grateful to Ross County and chairman Roy McGregor for allowing this to happen."

Plans are to run the event again next year, hopefully again with the involvement of Ross County.

Another event is also set to run in Inverness for autumn 2024.

The Fun Day format was set up by Mr Murray and Ms Campbell in memory of a former colleague – who passed away in 2022 leaving eight-year-old son and three-week-old baby.

It offers entertainment alongside hosting bereavement charity Crocus and – for the first time – Archie Highland to support the children. Future events may see the addition of a baby loss charity.

The day saw also £150 raised for the additional support needs department at Dingwall Primary.

Ms Campbell concluded: "I would just like to thank anyone who donated raffles and who got involved and made it a successful day.

"The football element – that really worked out well and put a smile on the children's faces."
