Almost 60 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels displayed ‘paw-fect’ behaviour when they got together in Inverness.

The meet-up was the idea of Gary Campbell, owner of nine-month-old Harley.

He put up a post on social media in the hope of meeting a few other local owners for a walk but there was interest from further afield.

More than 100 people and 58 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels from as far afield as Aberdeen, Fraserburgh and Thurso met up at Bught Park for the gathering.

“All the dogs were really well behaved and had a great time,” said Mr Campbell, of Dingwall.

“We got group photos which is not easy with so many dogs and then went for our walk round the islands with a stop half-way round where some of the dogs swam or paddled in the River Ness.

“At the end, we all had refreshments and the dogs had doggy ice cream and everybody just mingled.

“Some people even found their dog’s relatives from the same litter and they are going to keep in touch which is awesome for what was just going to be a wee walk with a handful of people.”

Pampered Pets also handed out goody bags.

Mr Campbell has no plans yet for such a meet-up next year although he has been asked about it.

He said a group, the Highland Cavaliers, plans to set up smaller more regular meets in the local area.

“I met lots of really nice people and dogs – it was like a real community and the only aim was for the dogs to have a nice time and they all did and they all went home tired from the excitement,” Mr Campbell added.
