A convoy of vehicles in the Highlands, organised by political group the Scottish Independence Movement, was one of four held simultaneously across the country.

Organiser Judith Reid (53) said more than 25 cars and four motorbikes took part in the Inverness and Highland cavalcade on Saturday.

Ms Reid (53), from Inverness, said they travelled for seven hours around the region to raise awareness of the independence movement, with participants coming from as far afield as Oban and Fraserburgh.

“The route around the Highlands was extensive and it was a fabulous day,” she said.

“Now is the time for Scottish independence.

“The Westminster government has shown that its response to Covid-19 was chaotic at best. We can’t rely on Westminster to make the best choices for Scotland.”
