The efforts of essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic have been recognised at an outdoor community gathering in Inverness.

It was organised by St Columba Church of Scotland and held at its field in Dores Road.

Rev Fiona Morrison, an interim minister attached to St Columba, Dores and Boleskine, said the idea behind the event was to thank key workers.

It was aimed at people of faith, different faiths, or no faith and included a short service followed by a picnic.

Music was provided by members of the St Columba Praise Band while activities included crafts.

"Everyone seemed happy to be thanked and appreciated," Miss Morrison said.

"There were a range of people including care home workers, funeral directors, supermarket workers and hospital staff."

Staff from cancer care charity, Maggie’s Highland, also attended.

The event was held in a field as the church, which recently achieved full status, does not yet have a building.

Pre-pandemic, members of the congregation used Drummond School for worship.
