A colourful performance in Inverness city centre has marked the start of the Chinese New Year.

The festivities at the city's Eastgate Shopping Centre celebrated the end of the Year of the Rabbit and the start of the Year of the Dragon.

The dragon, which is the only mythical creature among the 12 Chinese zodiac signs, symbolises good fortune, strength and good luck.

Members of Yee's Hung Ga Kung Fu Academy put on a performance of a traditional dance at the shopping centre.

The group also raised money for Highland Action for Little Ones (HALO).

Chinese New Year celebrations in Inverness were filmed earlier this week by a television crew for a film to be broadcast on China Central Television about how people in Scotland mark the occasion.

The Scottish Highlands & Islands and Moray Chinese Association (SHIMCA) showcased a lion dance in Crown Primary, Kimmylies and Hilton.

In the evening, people gathered to watch the lion dance at the bottom of Market Brae steps. This was then followed by a parade of the dance along the High Street which culminated at the Town House.
