Clachnacuddin Football Club’s annual dinner proved a huge hit with more than 200 guests – and generated a record fundraising total.

The Highland League outfit cleared £12,000 after the event at Kingsmills Hotel, which featured delicious food and two tribute acts – Rod Stewart and Tina Turner – who went down a storm.

The sum raised represented a 50 per cent rise on last year's total of £8,000.

It will go towards the Merkinch outfit’s general running, with club director and secretary Scott Dowling delighted with how the evening went.

“It was a really successful night, with over 200 guests there. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening and we raised some good money for the club,” Mr Dowling said.

“This was only our second year in the current format, but the Kingsmills was as good as ever and the acts were really well received.

“Rod and Tina were in great form and everyone was up dancing from the off.

“A lot of people have already said they will be back next year for a third year in a row and having such a good night certainly makes it easier for the following year.

“Running clubs at our level gets tougher every year so all of the support we receive is very much appreciated.”
