Organisers of an Inverness concert to help Ukraine raised more than £3000 over the weekend – with donations still coming in.

Highland choir Acclaim performed at the Free North Church, in Bank Street, with around 600 people in the audience.

Director Elaine Kirkham said: “The concert was great and there was a real buzz, especially as it was our first concert for two-and-a-half years. The amount raised so far is £3483.50, and donations for Children’s Ministry Ukraine are still coming in.”

She said the attendance was good, especially given the recent rise in Covid cases.

Along with the 63-strong main choir the concert also featured a quartet singing on the night, who Mrs Kirkham said “brought the house down”, as well as two soloists.

They are already looking forward to their Christmas concert, also to be held in the Free North Church, on December 10.
