PICTURES: Catwalk For A Cause in Inverness raises £74,000 for charities
The organiser of a fundraising event in Inverness felt so overwhelmed by the final total which was raised that she was left speechless.
Alison McRitchie, who runs Head Gardener hair salon in the city, was the force behind Catwalk For A Cause which took place on Saturday at the Drumossie Hotel.
It featured brave individuals whose lives have been affected by cancer taking to the catwalk and modelling a range of sustainable fashion at the event.
A total of £74,000 was raised, which will go to Highland Hospice and the End of Life Care Together partnership – which includes organisations across voluntary, health and social care sectors including the hospice, NHS Highland, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Relief – will also benefit.
Mrs McRitchie said: “I got overwhelmed at the end with the total – especially with the current financial crisis – we are grateful for anything.
“Everything that I planned to say at the end I didn’t because I was so overwhelmed.”
A hospice spokesman said they were “over the moon” with the special event.
