ECO-minded volunteers have done their bit to tackle littering and show some civic pride in an Inverness neighbourhood – after bagging up dozens of bin bags worth of rubbish discarded by those less considerate in and around their area.

Volunteers took to public spaces in droves in and around the Leys Square area in the Milton of Leys district at the weekend in a bid to remove unsightly litter that was blighting their community.

And those who turned up to take part in the inspirational Big Milton of Leys Spring Clean certainly got stuck in, leaving virtually no litter unpicked in their quest to spruce up their surroundings.

Delighted organisers revealed later that the collective effort had made a huge difference, helping to remove dozens of black bags worth of litter from public spaces in the community.

One of the organisers of the big Spring Clean was Layla Mills.

More community news.

She said afterwards of how it had all gone: “It was an amazing turnout.

“There were 70 black bags collected in the small area we worked on.”
