Highland Council has revealed behind the scene pictures of the count centre ahead of Thursday's local elections.

Polls close at 10pm on Thursday with voters having until then to elect their next councillors.

The actual count will take place the following day at Inverness Leisure Centre.

Overseeing proceedings will be returning officer Donna Manson.

The gymnasium hall, as pictured, has been the focus of a flurry of activity this week as final preparations get underway.

The first ballot boxes will be opened at 8am on Friday.
