Art students in the Highland capital chose an alternative way to display their work.

They left the warmth of the classroom to project their pieces onto the walls of the island on the Lochan in the Inverness campus grounds of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI).

The digital concept art, which was by seven second-year HND Contemporary Art Practice students, lit up the island on a recent dark and snowy afternoon and produced a striking illumination.

A spokesman said that Rosanna Bradley, Ellie Atkinson, Codie Anne, Julie McAleese, Natalie Rattray, Sophie Martin and Sarah Forbes had all taken a modern twist on The Seven Deadly Sins.

He added: "They highlighted controversial contemporary subjects such as environmental issues and the greed of multinational companies.

"Their lecturer Frank To, who was impressed by the high standard of all their work, said projecting the art was a sustainable way of exhibiting it and also highlighted the island’s potential as an outdoor creative space."
