A colossal six-figure windfall is winging its way to charity after a golf day and gala dinner proved a massive success.
The latest Maggie’s Highlands Golf Day, which was sponsored by the Orion Group, raised an incredible £119,600 when it took place last week.
Around 100 golfers took part in glorious sunshine at the wonderful Cabot Highlands links course at Castle Stuart on Friday.
And some 230 guests rom across the region’s business community later attended the event’s black-tie gala dinner at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness, where people were treated to a delightful four course meal and also took part in a major fundraising auction. Items up for grabs included holidays to the USA, Premier League football experiences, London breaks, and golfing trips to courses such as Loch Lomond.
Famous Scottish comedian Fred MacAulay hosted and auctioneered at the dinner. Guests were also treated to a very special performance from Westend Theatre operatic performers.
On the course, the winning gold team for 2024 were Tesco Extra Inverness.
Maggie’s Highlands was delighted with the level of support shown and the final total raised.
“It was an absolutely amazing night and fundraising so hard at the moment but this is one of the most prestigious fundraisers in the Highland and I think people recognise the support Maggie’s Highlands offers across the Highlands,” said a spokesperson.
“Maggie’s Highlands would like to express their thanks to Orion Group, Cabot Highlands, Drumossie Hotel and to everyone who attended the event.”
Maggie’s Highlands is already planning for next year’s golf and gala dinner extravaganza, which is currently set to take place on May 3, 2025.
