Local organisations and the general public are being invited along to a “Big Lunch” to mark the occasion.

Nairn BID is assisting with the event and manager Lucy Harding said: “We want to put out a call for folk to come forward to help organise what should be a very enjoyable community celebration to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

“There will hopefully be some food stalls and a stage for some locally provided entertainment and an MC to jolly things along.

“We’d also like to encourage local voluntary groups to come.

“Viewfield is a beautiful feature of the town centre and has been used for similar events in the past. The aim is to have a very relaxed programme with perhaps one or two things for the children and people could bring their own picnic lunches.”
