A personal trainer from Inverness has been spared a driving ban despite being caught doing 105mph in a 60mph zone.

Krzysztof Mazur (28) was spotted on the A96 by police carrying out static speeding checks between the Morayhill and Smithton roundabout on December 12, 2021.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that it was close to 11.45pm when they noticed his white BMW coming at them at speed.

Officers started a pursuit but it took them four miles to catch up with Mazur, of Galloway Drive, Culloden.

Defence agent David Patterson said his client was a personal trainer and used his car to get to various gyms around the area.

Sheriff Gary Aitken was told that Mazur had no previous convictions but Mr Patterson added: “He offers no excuse.

“He's let himself down.”

Sheriff Aitken said he had come very close to a disqualification.

Mazur was fined £565 and had six penalty points put on his driving licence.
