A man was struck by a van near an Inverness retail park yesterday evening.

The man was hit by the vehicle near the Tesco bus stop at Inshes Retail Park shortly after 7pm and was taken to Raigmore Hospital.

Inshes Road was closed to its junction with the A9 to let the emergency services deal with the accident and was reopened at 9.20pm.

A police spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports of a person being struck by a van at 7.05pm on Inshes Road.

“The pedestrian has been taken to Raigmore Hospital to be checked out but his injuries are not thought to be serious or life threatening.”
