No ScotRail services will run to or from the Highlands today.
Members of the RMT union are on strike in an ongoing pay dispute with ScotRail.
Last Thursday the union rejected ScotRail’s latest improved pay offer and announced that it would go ahead with the 24-hour stoppage today.
The only train services due to run today are in the central belt – between Milngavie and Edinburgh; Glasgow and Lanark and Glasgow and Larkhall.
The RMT has also advised ScotRail that its general grades members will take part in an overtime and rest day working ban as part of action short of a strike from Friday, October 14, which will have some impact to ScotRail services until the dispute is resolved.
No details of exactly what that impact will mean for passengers has been announced yet.
ScotRail services were also disrupted yesterday following strike action on Saturday by RMT members of Network Rail across the Great Britain rail network. This was due to signal boxes across the country opening at different times throughout the day as strikers returned to work.
