An appeal has now gone out to the community to help to cover the costs.

Friends of Drakies Primary School sourced the life-saving equipment after an incident highlighted the closest available defibrillator was at Tesco Inshes.

The new defibrillator, now in position at the school, is available for the wider community to use if necessary and is designed to help save lives.

The group has a target of £2000 to raise which helps cover the cost for the machine and its installation.

Parent council chairwoman Carol Ann Graham said: “Friends of Drakies Primary School would be delighted if we could all come together once again to show our commitment in keeping one another safe.

“We have been working closely with not-for-profit charity Lucky2Bhere who are supplying the defibrillator and provide full training. We very much hope that no one has to use it but it certainly gives comfort knowing it is there.

“If the whole community can spare a little, it would go a long way in protecting our families, friends and neighbours.”

The group has raised almost £500 so far.
