A water-sport film festival will be coming to Nairn for the first time this year – with the event set to help support two local charities.

The Paddling Film Festival, whose world tour is launching this month, is set for a Highland date at Nairn Community and Arts Centre on April 6.

Outdoor experience provider Highland Experiences will be hosting the event, which will see a day of activities ahead of the live screening.

With a kayak sale, a beach litter pick and a paddling session organised ahead of the film festival, the day is set to raise funds for Green Hive and new charity Blue Space Highland.

This is the only UK date confirmed for the world tour at the time of writing.

A Blue Space Highland spokesperson commented: "We are delighted to be one of two chosen charities for this amazing event this coming April. An amazing coup for Nairn hosting this!

"We will be on hand to talk about Blue Space Highland and will be offering some activities at the beach (weather permitting). Some great opportunities to buy second hand boats too before the season truly kicks off. Add it to your calendar!"

The Paddling Film Festival has been running since 2006, selecting and showcasing top paddling films and inspiring viewers to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push extremes, appreciate wild places and fully embrace the paddling lifestyle.

Each year, films are entered for the festival by both professional producers and up and coming filmmakers from all corners of the world.

The Paddling Film Festival committee narrows these submissions down to a shortlist of films and then decides upon 11 winners. The shortlisted and winning films are then toured around the world as the Paddling Film Festival, with live screenings takin place across the United States, Canada, Scotland and other countries

The 2024 batch of films are being chosen right now and the best films of the years will be announced shortly. Once the line-up is set then we will post it here in the New Year.

Green Hive shared on their social media: "Well done to Highland Experiences securing this amazing event. We are delighted to be working with Cory and Mandy and the team....watch this space for more details for a fun filled day of paddling action on the big screen and some community engagement activities in April 2024!"

Tickets can be booked online and are priced £12, more information i8s available at highlandexperiences.com/paddlingfilmfestival2024.
