Catherine Heymans, Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh, will be joined by local astronomer Stephen Mackintosh at the event in Abriachan Forest.

On March 13, clear skies permitting, the pair will host a moon observation session beginning at 7pm. It will be followed by Prof Heyman’s talk Do Look Up! Space Rocks and Killer Asteroids.

Professor Heymans was appointed as the first female Astronomer Royal for Scotland in May last year.

She is also the director of the German Centre for Cosmological Lensing, and is an experienced science communicator who has delivered talks to schools and festivals across Scotland.

Mr Mackintosh is a freelance astronomer, night sky photographer and STEM educator who frequently runs stargazing events throughout the Highlands.

Abriachan Forest is a Dark Sky Discovery Site, a place recognised for stargazing.

The event will run from 7-9pm and refreshments will be provided as well as binoculars for anyone who need them to help with stargazing.

Under 16s accompanied by an adult will go free.

Tickets can be purchased online.
