Thainstone welcomed show judge Julie Sedgewick, from Ricknall Grange Farm, Durham to the annual show of commercial cattle at the Thainstone Spectacular on Friday, where she awarded an 8-month-old 300kg, Limousion Cross Bullock from J S Ballie, Sebay, Tankerness, Orkney, with the Overall Champion position. Sired by Pabo Old Spice and a British Blue Dam, the bullock then went onto sell to the judge for £2000.

Commenting on her champion she said: "He stood out because he was just so correct and so flashy.

"Even for a show animal, he's very very showy - his legs were perfect, some of the rest were not.

"If wanted to show this winter I want something correct and a real show animal, not a butchers one and he fitted the bill."
