Demand for new staff in the childcare sector is rising, with Inverness-shire named as one of the areas where the need is highest.

Common Thread Childcare, which operates homes and other facilities throughout Scotland, including Inverness and Nairn, anticipates an additional demand for staff.

The firm is particularly looking to staff with experience in the hospitality, entertainment and airline industries – sectors which have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak – to move into the childcare industry and potentially start a new career.

The business hopes to begin processing applications and conducting interviews via video calls and conference calls as quickly as possible, to allow new staff to begin work soon.

Nicola Hewitt, the firm’s head of HR said: “We have applied for fast tracking for certification to enable new support staff to join our team. Given the rise in restrictions, we fully anticipate that those in our care will require additional support, and let’s all work together to make this happen.”

New employees will be prioritised for permanent positions as and when they become available. Applications can be made via the firm’s website.
